The "Sunny Mede" Griffon Bruxellois
The property of Miss Johnson
"Sunny Mede" Stanpit
Christchurch
Though this kennel does not contain more than a dozen all told, it is composed of some of the choicest specimens of the breed to be seen anywhere to-day.
Alas! That wonderful sire, Poilu Of Sunny Mede, is no more, but his memory lives in his three beautiful sons, two of whom have already each a challenger certificate to their credit, and without doubt are future champions. As well as having won Ch. Certificates himself, this wonderful sire in the 18 months he was at stud sired one full champion and three Ch. Certificate winners, Ch Babiche Of Rippingdon, Julie Of Sunny Mede, Zola Of Sunny Mede and Sunny Mede Petit Poilu.
Zola Of Sunny Mede (by Poilu Of Sunny Mede ex Maziota Of Sunny Med) is just out of puppy hood, and is even in some ways an improvement on his sire, could that be possible, and bears an extraordinary resemblance to him. Since making his debut at Holland Park this year, under Mr. Chris. Houlker, he has won eleven 1st prizes and a Ch. Certificate and several specials.
Next is Poilu Too Of Sunny Mede (by Poilu Of Sunny Mede ex Ch. Brookville Brendal). And was bred by Mrs. Saunders, Miss Johnson securing him us a tiny puppy after his sire´s death. He possesses a brilliant red coat, which is also an extra-good texture, wonderful skull, and flat face. Coming out under Mrs. Cock, at Bath, he won 1st in maiden. D. Or B., since when he has won well at both Worthing and Eastbourne Shows.
Sunny Mede Petit Poilu completes the trio. He is by Poilu Of Sunny Mede ex Bonfire Of Rippingdon, and was bred by Miss Croucher, who sold him as a puppy. He and Rufus Of Rippingdon were in the last litter sired by Poilu Of Sunny Mede. Petit Poilu possesses a lovely skull and exquisite face, shortest of noses, and beautiful eyes. He is really a flame red in colour and will be always on the small side. Coming out at Brighton, he won 1st in Puppies under Mr Shambrook Saunders, and at the recent Kennel Club Show, though still a puppy. Mrs Charters gave him 1st in all his classes and the dog Ch. Certificate over much older dogs in a very hot class.
Then there is The Topper Of Sunny Mede, who is by that well known dog, Marquis Of Sunny Mede (by Cedric Of Sunny Mede ex Lavender Of Sunny Mede). He has done considerable winning in the smooth classes. He has a big skull, very flat face, and extraordinary width of muzzle, and in addition possesses a good coat in colour and texture, with a beautiful short thick set body.
Amongst the bitches are the smooth, Cherisette Of Sunny Mede, by Pondie Of Sunnymede ex Ton Ton; Martuta Of Sunny Mede by Marquis Of Sunny Mede ex My Joy; and Fifine Of Sunny Mede, by Tommie ex Bonfire of Rippingdon. Also Belle Of Sunny Med, by Poilu Of Sunny Mede ex Fifine Of Sunny Mede. She has been shown once only at Brighton where she won one 1st and two 2nds under Mr Shambrook Saunders. She is being reserved as a future brood, as Miss Johnson prefers exhibiting the dogs only.
